In one of the most high-profile cases of a political film sparking global controversy, ‘The Interview’, a satire starring Seth Rogen and James Franco, led to an international diplomatic row. The plot, which involves the fictional assassination of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, provoked outrage from the North Korean government. Following cyberattacks on Sony Pictures, which led to their films and other documents being released online, the studio cancelled the film’s release, fearing further retaliation from hackers.
